About Open Protocol Labs

Open Protocol Labs designs low-level, open protocols built on Bitcoin's BSV blockchain and makes them free for anyone to use. The company also builds and maintains the applications that put those protocols to work. Its focus is the data people create and the tools they need to own their identity, verify where information came from, and choose whose judgment they trust.

The protocol layer includes Sigma Identity, 1Sat Ordinals, OrdFS, and Bitcoin Schema. The application layer includes the 1Sat Browser, Minerva, BitChat, and MetaLens. Together they form a working network: portable identity, signed provenance, durable data, private communication, and trust-based discovery rather than a collection of disconnected demos.

Open Protocol Labs was founded in 2023 by Luke Rohenaz and Kurt Wuckert Jr. The company operates bOpen.ai as its open-source brand and also owns the GorillaPool and nodeless.network infrastructure brands. Its long-term structure separates product building from stewardship: a neutral foundation is intended to hold the shared protocols as a public good while the company sustains products people use.
